One of the leading aluminium sand foundries in the UK is under new ownership.
Mick Jenney and co-directors, Adrian Burton, Carly Kicks and Lee Webster have led and completed a management buyout of Harrison Castings.
Although the change of tenure represents the ending of 108 years of family ownership for the company, those involved have been working for Harrison Castings for some years, making the transition seamless.
In a statement issued in September, Robert and Peter Harrison said: “Mick and his team have been successfully running the business for a number of years on our behalf, and with no future family involvement we viewed this as the best possible outcome for the future of the business, our customers and employees.
“All parties see this as a great opportunity for Harrison Castings to maintain its position as one of the leading aluminium sand foundries in the UK and to continue supplying castings to all its valued customers both in the UK and the rest of the world.
“We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our customers and suppliers who have supported our business over many years.”
As a familiar face at Harrison Castings, managing director Mick Jenney is already acutely aware of the eminent reputation the company has throughout the world and is relishing this new phase in its ongoing development. “We feel immensely proud to be the new owners of this wonderful company,” he told Foundry Trade Journal. “In particular, it is a real honour to carry on the legacy created by three generations of the Harrison family and we thank them for this fantastic opportunity. We are delighted that this next step will enable the company to have a bright future, continuing to supply precision engineered components to our loyal global customer base”.
Harrison Castings produces over 1,500 tonnes of quality aluminium sand castings a year, manufacturing significant quantities of both small and large castings up to 350kg in weight for a range of non-automotive customers including Tier 1 companies and OEMs. The company is renowned for its continued investment in technology and people. The change of ownership became effective as of 30th August 2019.
