Omega Sinto Foundry Machinery Ltd has appointed Gareth Allwright as group managing director to spearhead the future development of the organisation from January 2025. He takes over the role from Mark Lewis who will remain with the company as a non-executive director.
Gareth Allwright joined Omega Sinto in 2013 as design and project manager, before being promoted to head of operations in 2020 at a crucial time for the industry in the wake of a changing business landscape, caused by the global pandemic.
He is a natural successor to Lewis, with several years of experience in the mining, aviation, logistics and foundry sectors and having worked with Lewis and the Omega Sinto team for the past eleven years. He is particularly proud of his integration as head of operations, which he sees as a pivotal moment in his career with the company. “Starting my role as head of operations just before Covid-19, fast tracked my growth as a leader as we all had to adapt and ‘dig deep’ in so many different ways to keep everyone safe whilst carrying on with business,” he said.
The skillset acquired during that period aided Omega Sinto’s navigation through what was a difficult time for manufacturing and means he is well prepared for all eventualities. As for the future, he is focussed on maintaining and building upon the company’s reputation and success. “I am delighted to be taking over from Mark and I will work to ensure we have steady growth through innovation and sustainability, cementing our position as the leading supplier to our customers.”
Gareth Allwright previously worked in the mining industry in South Africa running screening and crushing plants, the aviation industry dealing with aircraft docking/platform installation commissioning and maintenance, the telecommunications sector on infrastructure installation management, and in capital project management for shipping container and bulk material terminals. Experience that has seen him excel in project management and logistical supervision.
Mark Lewis’s decision to step back from the role was not undertaken lightly and he is keen to support his successor and the rest of the team throughout a new phase for the company. He said: “It has been a privilege working with such a fantastic team for all these years at Omega Sinto and I wish Gareth every success in his new role as group managing director. I look forward to seeing the continued growth of Omega Sinto under Gareth’s guidance and will do all I can to support him and the team in my new role as non-executive director.”
