Great loss to the global foundry industry

It is with great sadness that the Polish Foundrymen's Association and the World Foundry Organization (WF) has announced the untimely death of Prof Jozef Suchy.

Prof Suchy passed away suddenly on Saturday 29th September, just two days after the closure of the 73rd World Foundry Congress in which he had been chairman of the organising committee and a driving force.  Prof Suchy had worked tirelessly for the congress and for the WFO over many years as a former WFO president, long-serving member of the executive committee and as the current treasurer of the organisation.  He is known throughout the foundry world for his relentless efforts to inspire future generations of foundry personnel.  He taught at technical universities in Gliwice, Opole, Warsaw and Krakow and has guided many students of foundry technology into careers in the industry.

He has written many publications and given numerous presentations at World Foundry Congresses and other events globally and has received numerous awards and accolades for his scientific activities and his ability to impart knowledge to others.

His commitment was a major factor in ensuring that the 73rd World Foundry Congress, held in Krakow on 23-27 September 2018, was a great success and showcased the very best of the Polish and global foundry industry.

Our condolences are extended to his family, friends and colleagues in all parts of the world.  A full obituary will appear in due course.
